Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between fiduciary and fee-only?
Fee-only advisors don’t accept commissions or other compensation by selling financial products. They also don’t accept referral fees.
It’s important to mention that someone who is a fiduciary does not need to be fee-only. However, we’ve decided to be both at Avenue 90 because we believe this is the most ideal structure for our clients.
The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), XY Planning Network (XYPN), and FeeOnlyNetwork (FON) have vetted Arun for these attributes and accepted him into their membership ranks.
You can verify Arun’s memberships by viewing his profile pages through the links provided above.
How do I know if we’re a good fit?
While we aim to provide ample info on this site about the types of clients we partner with and the services provided, a free intro meeting would be the next best step.
This intro call is meant for those interested in one of the following services:
--Ongoing Financial Planning + Investment Management
--Investment Management as a stand-alone service
After the free intro meeting, if we both feel it could be a good fit to work together, we’ll put a second meeting on the calendar so that the advisor can walk through some of the output of a sample financial plan (also a no-cost meeting).Â
For those preferring the Hourly Planning service, you can learn more about that option by clicking here, as we don’t have intro calls for the hourly service. Â
Do you provide financial planning without investment management?
We offer an hourly financial planning service that's meant for a one-hour session to review the topic(s) of your choice. After the first meeting, clients can book additional time if they’d like, noting that this service is not for in-depth planning that includes multiple calculations and cash flow projections.  For more info on hourly planning and how to book a one-hour session, click here.
For comprehensive financial planning, we couple this with investment management because we believe it’s important to help implement your plan, and a big part of implementation includes portfolio management.

If you manage my investment accounts, where are the investments held?
When we invest our client’s assets in the markets, we don’t take custody of those assets. They are instead held at a much larger financial institution (an asset custodian) that specializes in providing a handful of very important services, some of which include the following:
·        Safeguarding the assets
·        Facilitating the purchase and sale of assets when trades are placed by the advisor
·        Providing recordkeeping services to ensure accurate records of ownership and transactions
·        Reporting transaction and balances to the client via monthly or quarterly account statements
Avenue 90 Financial has selected Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. ("Schwab") as primary custodian for our clients’ accounts.
For the service Ongoing Financial Planning + Investment Management, do I need to move all of my assets to Avenue 90?
The short answer is clients do not need to move all of their assets. Assets in a current employer retirement plan and 529 accounts are examples of those that we don’t always expect clients to transfer to the custodian we use (Schwab).Â
Typically, we’ll ask clients to move the majority of their assets over for us to manage because we believe this will enable us to execute the financial plan and portfolio strategy more effectively. For those assets that don’t transfer over, we’ll still incorporate those into the overarching strategy and review those accounts on a regular basis.
How do you price your services and how does this differ from other firms?
We separate financial planning fees from investment management fees because we view them as two different services. Other advisors may combine the two, and while that’s a reasonable option, we think decoupling the fees works well for our clients. For example, some of our clients choose investment management as a stand-alone service.
